Marketers across the globe are today faced with a unique challenge how to create a brand presence which relates to their target market such that it not only creates a pull but also an effective repeat purchase strategy. Jack Pan Departs As STX Marketing President, Eddie Egan ... - Deadline

STX Entertainments marketing president of two years, Jack Pan, is departing the company for personal reasons. In his place, former Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment marketing president Eddie Egan will step in as STXs interim marketing head as it rolls out the rest of its annual slate which includesDesierto, The Edge of SeventeenandThe Space Between Us.Egan has been consulting for STX since early July. Pan wil work with him in the coming days to ensure a seamless transition.Pan helped rally STX to its highest grossing film to date,Bad Moms,which currently counts $165M worldwide.

Prior to STX, Pan served six years as EVP of marketing at Summit Entertainment.At Summit, Pan was involved in the Twilight and Divergent campaigns. 5 Dos and Don'ts of Thought Leadership Marketing - Entrepreneur

Gone are the days when marketing meant putting out some advertisements and hiring a copywriter to rave about how great your brand is.In a technology-saturated age where consumers are more skeptical than ever of self-promotion, traditional advertising strategies just dont work anymore.

Thats why many entrepreneurs are interested in the new value of thought leadership. If youve been privy to trends in marketing over the past few years, youve almost certainly heard the term being thrown around at least a few times. But thought leadership is more than just the latest marketing fad -- it's more of a philosophy that's probably here to stay.In essence, thought leadership is about providing genuine value to your customers without even a hint of self-promotion --showing them that youre the no. 1 expert in your field -- somebody who is 100 percentworthy of their trust.

The idea is that people are more willing to invest in you if they are confidentthat you really know your stuff. ut positioning yourself as a thought leader isnt easy -- and if the terminology is new to you, it can be hardto know where to start.

1. Show, dont tell.

The point of thought leadership is to demonstrateyour expertise, not simply talkabout it. Your trophy cabinet may be impressive, but its important to show how youve earned your accolades.

If youre an expert in Facebook advertising, dont just talk about how much you know. 2. Provide, dont promote.

From spam emails to pyramid schemes to Nigerian princes who always seem to have millions of dollars to offer you, people are more skeptical than ever of online advertising. No matter how much you try to disguise an advertisement, dont underestimate the general publics ability to sniff out promotion from miles away.

Thats why you should focus on being a genuine resource for potential customers. Your emails, social media channelsand blog posts should constitute a gold mine of useful, actionable content for anyone interested in your field.This will encourage people to revisit your site, check out your other materialand sign up for your email list.

3. Depth, not breadth.

Dig deep. Being a thought leader doesnt mean knowing everything about every aspect of your field. Its about being the go-to person in your particular niche, which can be very narrow.

Further, it provides additional proof that youre current and up-to-date about the status quo in your area of expertise.Think of the people whose opinions you trust. It's odd for Google to yank an offering like this, but Recode suggests that this could reflect a broader change in strategy. Simply put, Google has fiercer competition from incumbent carriers -- it may have to offer a fast-but-affordable selection to get those customers for whom the gigabit option is either too costly or sheer overkill. On top of that, dropping the installation cost (it's waived for everyone if you commit to one year) increases the chances that Google Fiber will reach apartments, where any kind of initial fee might be too much. Whatever the motivations, Google is clearly beyond the days when Fiber was merely an experiment in very high-speed internet access -- it has to be a money-maker.
